Companies that employ drivers need to:

 

  • Designate a Director to be responsible for managing occupational road risk (MORR).

  • Devise, communicate and implement policies that address road safety risks.

  • Set up systems and allocate/define accountabilities and responsibilities for key staff.

  • Undertake Risk Assessments of currently used working practices.

  • Ensure that the findings from the Risk Assessments are actioned.

  • Verify that employees take ‘reasonably practical precautions’ to reduce road safety risks.

  • Sponsor and enable appropriate driver training programmes.

  • Monitor and audit ongoing performances, establishing a continuous improvement culture.
